Review of the new Spring/Summer ’11 Scentsy Scents

I finally received this…YES!!!, many times over, YES!!!

I am just going to pick one out at randomly….tell you want the Scentsy website says it is and then what I feel about it, then repeat until the bag is empty.

  • Luna

Scentsy Description: White florals—jasmine, sweet pea and freesia—juicy berries, and sandalwood shimmer like moonlight.
My Thoughts: Luna is a very delicate scent with the smell of the berries just lingering behind the floral scents. Smelling it does invoke some memories of enjoying the great outdoors during a particular springy day. The fresh clean smell would be good in a bathroom or kitchen.

  • Forever Pink

Scentsy Description: Cherry blossoms and freesia with blackcurrant jam and musk in an unmistakably pink fragrance.
My Thoughts:
Very girly, not probably one I would use in my house but still has a decent smell. Sort of reminds me of one the scents from Bath and Body Works.

  • Shades of Green

Scentsy Description: The quintessential scent of grass and clover–green, sunny, and happy
My Thoughts:
This is one of those scents that might be better warmed, but if you like the smell of glass clippings it would be perfect for you. First I caught the scent of clover and I was remembering playing kickball and the like in elementary school on the playground (I was always more interesting in creating jewelry from the pretty flowers), but then I just felt like I had a bag of lawn clippings poured on me. I don’t like the smell of cut grass because generally it is attached to killer allergy headaches…but I could see how bringing the outdoors, indoors would be good for someone who enjoys such.

  • Oats and Honey

Scentsy Description: A buttery mix of toasted oats and tupelo honey, oven-crisped with vanilla and maple.
My Thoughts:
Holy crickey, am I am ever CRAVING some oatmeal now. Has a nice nutty oat flavor you can only get from freshly milled oats with scrumptious maple and honey notes. I really enjoy this scent, but if you are like my husband and hate the smell of maple syrup this scent is probably not for you. This smell is an excellent kitchen smell, nummy!

  • Cocoa Clementine

Scentsy Description: The scent of childhood: orange-flavored hard candy wrapped around chewy chocolate taffy.
My Thoughts:
Orange tootsie roll pop, that is exactly what this scent smells like, and as a tootsie pop addict I MUST purchase this scent. What is wonderful about this scent is that it is both good for the spring/summer months but could easily be brought out for the fall (like around Halloween).  The smell of childhood without the sticky stick and extra calories.

  • Route 66

Scentsy Description: A windswept drive in a convertible—an exhilarating breeze of citrus, herbs, and musk.
My Thoughts: This smells like my husband and it is very similar to Simply Irresistible. The citrus smell here is perfect and I hope this takes the spot of my husbands favorite scent (Radiance) which I LOATHE with a passion. Excellent mens scent. Scentsy has always been good about developing mens scents that don’t make me head for the hills like some of the mens scents out there.

  • Honey, Do

Scentsy Description: Lush, ripe honeydew melon and cantaloupe, and a hint of garden mint.
My Thoughts:
Great summer time scent, it smells clean and fresh and not overpowering like some melon scents can be (as a general rule I don’t like cucumber melon scents). I absolutely ADORE the mint in this scent. I can imagine this scent in my in-laws house. Great kitchen, bathroom and even bedroom scenty. Home run, Scentsy.

  • Mums and Marigolds

Scentsy Description: The sunny scent of summer marigolds, rosy rhubarb, earthy cedar and musk.
My Thoughts: Too floral for me, but it does invoke memories of walking through an arboretum and botanical garden. I love to smell flowers, I just don’t like canned floral scents, but it is still a great scent and in the right space really couldn’t liven up a room.

  • Pomatini

Scentsy Description: Pomegranate and grapefruit tonic, effervescent soda bubbles, and fresh berries.
My Thoughts:
This has potential and I have a feeling the Hubs might enjoy it. The scent is fruity but not in a girly way. Would be a good kitchen scent

  • Sharp-Dressed Man

Scentsy Description: Grapefruit and lemon sparkle over eucalyptus and basil, like cuff links on a classic tuxedo shirt.
My Thoughts:
It has potential.  The lemon and eucalyptus sort of give it a cleanser smell but warmed I think the notes would develop differently. I am going to predict that this becomes on the Hubs new favorites.

  • Love Story

Scentsy Description: Innocent pink jasmine and sensual amber embraced by luscious dark chocolate
My Thoughts:
I like this one. This is a very subtle feminine scent but not overpowering that it couldn’t share a space with a man. This would be perfect along but would be great paired with my ultimate FAVORITE Scentsy scent, Satin Sheets.

  • Wishing Well

Scentsy Description: A pool of fresh rainwater, with soothing water hyacinth and subtle green fern.
My Thoughts:
Too floral for me, it has potential but also smells like my day-time moisturizer and a handful of other face cleaning items I have used in the past.

  • Groovy Grapefruit

Scentsy Description: Energetic grapefruit, fresh wheatgrass, and amber create an uplifting, intriguing scent.
My Thoughts:
This is a good Springtime, Summer citrus scent. It is not overly sweet nor overly tropical, a great mix perfect for the kitchen.

  • Tea Party

Scentsy Description: A secret garden of melon, quince and chamomile, with black and white tea
My Thoughts:
First off – URG on the name! This is a very relaxing scent, something calming in the sea of chaos, which is very much the opposite of what the word “tea party” invoke in my mind and I am a tea LOVER. Although this would work good in a kitchen…a bathroom or a bedroom would be the best use of this scent.

  • Faerie Blossom

Scentsy Description: A fantastical scent of lychee fruit and watermint, ethereal sweet lotus, and violets
My Thoughts:
I don’t hate it, if the Hubs likes it I would probably consider buying, I am just not sure where I would use it though. It is a sweet scent but not sickly sweet and is both feminine but not overly so that a man probably wouldn’t enjoy it.

  • Rio Beach

Scentsy Description: The scent of sun, surf, sand, and samba—coconut milk, tropical fruit, and tonka bean.
My Thoughts:
Suntan lotion – this is definitely not my favorite. The scent has potential but I generally don’t like coconut smelling things, it isn’t overpowering the rest of the scents but it is enough that I am just not feeling it.

  • Surfer Chick

Scentsy Description: Bubbly lemon tonic and guava frolic with sweet cherries and blackberries in this youthful scent
My Thoughts:
Not feeling it, it almost tries too hard to be youthful and it just sort of reads the opposite.

  • Embers

Scentsy Description: Evoke memories of a romantic evening by the fire as bright bergamot, sensual amber and woodsy cedar ignite with hints of pepper and spice, then smoulder in this deep and sultry fragrance.
My Thoughts:
YUM! It is masculine and feminine and just generally very sexy smelling. Might be a little more Fall/Winter than Spring/Summer, still a great scent that instantly “warms” you upon smelling it. This would be a great welcoming scent for a gathering or party, very HOMEY.

  • Cranberry Muffin

Scentsy Description: The cozy scent of homemade muffins on a crisp weekend morning, Cranberry Muffin is bursting with bright cranberries enveloped in a buttery brown sugar batter, with nuances of walnuts and toffee.
My Thoughts:
Yum! Reminds me of my favorite Planters Nut-trition Cranberry Almond Peanut Bars. This scent is very happy and just refreshes you when you smell it. The cranberries provide a nice tartness to the scent but the slight touch of sweet and walnut instantly warm it and just create an inviting atmosphere. Excellent scent for a kitchen or whenever you need a little pick-me-up..

  • Newborn Nursery

Scentsy Description: Dreamy scent that evokes memories of cradling your little ones.
My Review:
Smells like baby powder and Johnson and Johnson  No Tears shampoo mixed together. I am not in love with it, but if I had a nursery or a baby I could see how it would be beneficial. Scentsy also has the most ADORABLE nursery warmers, this scent would be perfect in there.

  • My Wish

Scentsy Description: A confection of earthy fig, sweet violet, and playful marshmallow will have you wishing for more.
My Thoughts:
Very creamy and dreamy scent. There is  a slight floral undertone but it isn’t heavy, what is smells most like is buttercream frosting or homemade marshmallows. Might even have a very subtle hint of grape in there. Yum!

Well that was the last of them. I used the Scentsy descriptions directly from their website to give you what they were going for.

For more information about these products just drop me a line, I absolutely ADORE Scentsy and have really enjoyed selling it over the last few months. Their products are well-built, well designed and well thought out. Their scent ranges cover all bases and you are almost guaranteed to  find a scent you love. If you think it might be helpful, I would be more than willing to do a similar post with my top 10 fragrances (some retired and some still in catalog).
